أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَالْأَكْلَةُ وَالْأَكْلَتَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ مَا يَسْتَغْنِي بِهِ وَلَا يُعْلَمُ بِحَاجَتِهِ فَيُتَصَدَّقُ عَلَيْهِ فَذَلِكَ الْمَحْرُومُ»

✧ 'The poor person is not the one who is turned away by a date or two, or a morsel or two; rather, the poor person is the one who has nothing to suffice himself, and his need is not known so that charity might be given to him. That is the deprived one.'
