✧ The Prophet ﷺ went out from Madinah to the polytheists to fight them, and my father 'Abd Allah said to me, "O Jabir, it would not harm you to be among the onlookers of the people of Madinah until you know what becomes of our affair. For I, by Allah, were it not that I leave behind daughters after me, I would have loved to be killed before you." While I was among the onlookers, my paternal cousin came with my father and my maternal uncle, balancing them on a weak camel, and entered Madinah with them to bury them in our graveyard. Then a man caught up, calling out: "Indeed the Prophet ﷺ commands you to return with the slain and bury them in their places of falling, where they were killed." He said: So we returned them with the slain to where they were killed.
