أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَازِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِابْنَةِ زَيْنَبَ وَنَفْسُهَا تَقَعْقَعُ كَأَنَّهَا فِي شَنٍّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لِلَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ وَلَهُ مَا أَعْطَى وَكُلٌّ إِلَى أَجَلٍ» قَالَ فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَرِقُّ أَوْلَمْ تَنْهَ عَنِ الْبُكَاءِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا هِيَ رَحْمَةٌ جَعَلَهَا اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِ عِبَادِهِ وَإِنَّمَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الرُّحَمَاءَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me, so I brought him the daughter of Zaynab while her soul was rattling as if it were in a waterskin. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'To Allah belongs what He takes, and to Him belongs what He gives, and everything has an appointed term.' He said: 'His eyes shed tears.' Sa'd b. 'Ubadah said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, do you weep? Did you not forbid weeping?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'This is only a mercy that Allah has placed in the hearts of His servants. Allah has mercy on only the merciful among His servants.'
