✧ A Chapter about the Prayer for the Funeral

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُعَافَى الْعَابِدُ بِصَيدَا قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْقُرَشِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ جُنَاحٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ حَلْبَسٍ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

أَنَّهُ صَلَّى عَلَى رَجُلٍ فَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ فُلَانَ بْنَ فُلَانٍ فِي ذِمَّتِكَ وَحَبْلِ جِوَارِكَ فَأَعِذْهُ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ أَنْتَ أَهْلُ الْوَفَاءِ وَالْحَقِّ اللَّهُمَّ فَاغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ»

✧ He prayed over a man and said: “O Allah, so-and-so the son of so-and-so is in Your protection and the rope of Your neighborhood, so protect him from the trial of the grave and the punishment of the Fire. You are worthy of faithfulness and truth. O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, for You are the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.”
