أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ
كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ كَانَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ وَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي إِنْ كَانَ مُحْسِنًا فَزِدْ فِي إِحْسَانِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُسِيئًا فَاغْفِرْ لَهُ وَلَا تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ وَلَا تَفْتِنَّا بَعْدَهُ»

✧ When he prayed over a funeral, he would say: “O Allah, Your servant and the son of Your servant used to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger, and You know him better than I do. If he was a doer of good, increase his good deeds, and if he was a doer of evil, forgive him, and do not deprive us of his reward, and do not cause us to be tempted after him.”
