أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى زَحْمَوَيْهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ جَمِيلٍ بِنْتِ الْمُجَلِّلِ قَالَتْ
أَقْبَلْتُ بِكَ مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنْتَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى لَيْلَةٍ أَوْ لَيْلَتَيْنِ طَبَخْتُ لَكَ طَبْخَةً فَفَنِيَ الْحَطَبُ فَخَرَجْتُ أَطْلُبُهُ فَتَنَاوَلْتَ الْقَدْرَ فَانْكَفَأَتْ عَلَى ذِرَاعِكَ فَأَتَيْتُ بِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاطِبٍ وَهُوَ أَوْلَ مَنْ سُمِّيَ بِكَ قَالَتْ فَتَفَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي فِيكَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِكَ وَدَعَا لَكَ وَقَالَ «أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ وَاشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا» قَالَتْ فَمَا قُمْتُ بِكَ مِنْ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا وَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ يَدُكَ

✧ “I brought you back from the land of Abyssinia until, when you were a night or two away from Madinah, I cooked a cooking for you and ran out of firewood. I went out to look for it, and you reached for the cooking pot, and it tipped over onto your forearm. I brought you to the Prophet ﷺ and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, this is Muhammad b. Hatib, and he is the first to be named with your name.’” She said: “So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spat into your mouth, wiped over your head, supplicated for you, and said: ‘Remove the affliction, Lord of the people. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no sickness.’” She said: “I did not get up with you from his presence except that your hand was already healed.”
