✧ Ayyub, the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, remained in his affliction for eighteen years. The near and the far shunned him except two men from among his brothers, who were of his closest brothers. They would come to him morning and evening. One of them said to his companion, 'You know, by Allah, Ayyub committed a sin that no one in the worlds has committed.' His companion said, 'What is that?' He said, 'For eighteen years Allah has not shown him mercy and removed his affliction.' When they came to him in the evening, the man could not restrain himself until he mentioned that to him. Ayyub said, 'I do not know what you are saying, but Allah knows that I used to pass by two men disputing and mentioning Allah, and I would return to my house and make expiation for them, disliking that Allah be mentioned except in truth.' He said, 'He used to go out to relieve himself, and when he finished, his wife would take him by the hand. One day he was delayed. Allah revealed to Ayyub in his place, "Strike with your foot; this is a cool bathing place and a drink." She found him late and reached him. He came to her, Allah having removed from him the affliction, and he was in the best condition. When she saw him, she said, 'May Allah bless you. Have you seen the Prophet of Allah, this afflicted one? By Allah, I have seen no one more resembling him than you when he was healthy.' He said, 'I am he.' He had two threshing floors: one for wheat and one for barley. Allah sent two clouds. When one of them was over the wheat floor, it poured gold into it until it overflowed, and the other poured silver onto the barley floor until it overflowed.'
