✧ The prayer of the lunar eclipse.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ عَنْ حَيَّانَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

«كُنْتُ أَرْمِي بَأْسَهُمٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ إِذْ خَسَفَتْ فَنَبَذْتُهَا» فَقُلْتُ «وَاللَّهِ لَأَنْظُرَنَّ مَا يُحَدِّثُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ» قَالَ «فَأَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ ﷺ قَائِمٌ فِي الصَّلَاةِ رَافِعٌ يَدَيْهِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ يُسَبِّحُ وَيَحْمَدُ وَيُكَبِّرُ وَيُهَلِّلُ وَيَدْعُو حَتَّى حَسَرَ فَلَمَّا حَسَرَ عَنْهَا قَرَأَ سُورَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

✧ 'I was shooting arrows in Madinah when an eclipse occurred, and I threw them down.' I said, 'By Allah, I shall certainly see what happens to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the eclipse of the sun.' He said: 'I came to him while he ﷺ was standing in prayer, raising his hands.' He said: 'He began to glorify Allah, praise Him, say takbir, say tahlil, and supplicate until it cleared. When it cleared, he recited two surahs and prayed two rakʿahs.'
