✧ That 'Itban b. Malik, who was one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and among those who witnessed Badr from the Ansar, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my eyesight has become weak, and I lead my people in prayer. When the rains come, the valley that is between me and them floods, and I am not able to come to their mosque to lead them in prayer. I wish that you, O Messenger of Allah, would come and pray in my house so that I may take it as a place of prayer." He said, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, «I will do so.» 'Itban said, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq went out in the morning when the day had risen, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked permission, and I gave him permission. He did not sit until he entered the house, then he said, «Where would you like me to pray in your house?» He said, so I pointed to a corner of the house. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and said the takbir, and we stood behind him, and he prayed two rak'ahs, then he said the salam. He said, and we detained him for a dish of khazirah that we had prepared for him. He said, then men from the people of the house gathered around him until a number of men had gathered in the house. One of them said, "Where is Malik b. al-Dukhshun?" Some of them said, "That is a hypocrite, and he does not love Allah and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, «Do not say that about him. Do you not see that he has said, "There is no god but Allah," desiring thereby the face of Allah?» They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best. We only see his face and his counsel for the hypocrites." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, «Indeed Allah, Glorified and Exalted, has forbidden the Fire for one who says, "There is no god but Allah," seeking thereby the face of Allah.»
