✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell unconscious. When he regained consciousness, he said, 'Has the call to prayer been given?' We said, 'No.' He said, 'Tell Bilal to hasten the call to prayer and let Abu Bakr lead the people in prayer.' She said: I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr is a tender-hearted man; he cannot stand in your place without weeping.' She said: He looked at me when I finished speaking, then he fell unconscious again. When he regained consciousness, he said, 'Has the call to prayer been given?' She said: I said, 'No.' He said, 'Tell Bilal to give the call to prayer and let Abu Bakr lead the people in prayer.' She said: So I gestured to Hafsah, who said, 'O Prophet of Allah, Abu Bakr is a soft-hearted man; he cannot recite without weeping.' He said: He looked at her when she finished speaking, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell unconscious again. When he regained consciousness, he said, 'Has the call to prayer been given?' She said: I said, 'No.' He said, 'Tell Bilal to give the call to prayer and let Abu Bakr lead the people in prayer, for you are like the companions of Yusuf.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell unconscious again. She said: So Bilal gave the iqamah and Abu Bakr led the people in prayer. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regained consciousness and came supported by Nubah and Barirah, who carried him. Aishah said: It is as if I can see the toes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dragging on the ground. She said: When Abu Bakr felt the Prophet ﷺ coming, he wanted to step back, but he gestured to him to stay in place. She said: Then the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was brought and placed in line next to Abu Bakr in the row.
