أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بُجَيْرٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَتَاهُ الْقَوْمُ وَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ قَاعِدًا وَهُمْ قِيَامٌ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ الْأُخْرَى ذَهَبُوا يَقُومُونَ فَقَالَ «ائْتَمُّوا بِإِمَامِكُمْ وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was approached by some people, and the prayer time arrived. He led them in prayer while seated, and they were standing. When the next prayer time arrived, they started to stand, and he said: “Follow your imam. If he prays seated, then pray seated; and if he prays standing, then pray standing.”
