✧ ʿItbān b. Mālik, who was one of the Anṣār and who had been present at Badr, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have noticed my eyesight has become weak, and I lead my people in prayer. When it rains, the valley between me and them floods, and I am not able to come to their mosque to lead them in prayer. I wish you, O Messenger of Allah, would come and pray in my house so that I may take it as a place of prayer.” He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I will do it.” ʿItbān said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out early with Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq when the day had risen, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked permission, so I gave him permission. He did not sit when he entered the house, then he said, “Where would you like me to pray in your house?” He said: So I pointed to a corner of the house, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and said the takbīr, and we stood behind him, and he prayed two rakʿahs, then he said the salām. He said: “And we detained him for a khazīrah we had prepared for him.”
