✧ He was sitting with a group of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi said, 'I am the most knowledgeable among you concerning the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I saw him when he said takbir, he placed his hands level with his shoulders. When he bowed, he placed his hands on his knees, then bent his back. When he raised his head, he stood straight. When he prostrated, he placed his hands, not spreading them on the ground and not clenching them, and he faced the tips of his feet toward the qiblah. When he sat in the last rak'ah, he put forward his left leg and sat on his buttocks.'

machine translationMuḥammad b. ʿAmr b. ʿAṭāʾ heard this report from Abū Ḥumayd, and he also heard it from ʿAbbās b. Sahl from his father. He said: So both routes are preserved (maḥfūẓ), and their texts differ. Someone who is not well versed in the craft of hadith may imagine that the report of Abū Ḥumayd is defective, but that is not the case.
in صحيح ابن حبان, p. 1873 - M. ibn Ḥibbān al-Bustī

- Taḥāwī
machine translationMuḥammad b. ʿAmr b. ʿAṭāʾ did not hear this hadith from Abū Ḥumayd, nor from anyone mentioned along with Abū Ḥumayd; between them there is an unknown (majhūl) man. Muḥammad b. ʿAmr is mentioned in the hadith as having been present with Abū Qatādah, but his age does not allow for that, for Abū Qatādah was killed a long time before that, since he was killed with ʿAlī, and ʿAlī prayed over him.
in صحيح ابن حبان, p. 1873 - Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī
machine translationThe hadith is defective (maʿlūl) from another angle, namely that Muḥammad b. ʿAmr b. ʿAṭāʾ did not hear this hadith from Abū Ḥumayd.
