✧ I heard him among ten of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, one of whom was Abu Qatadah, say: 'I am the most knowledgeable of you about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' They said, 'You were not the earliest of us in companionship with him, nor the most frequent of us in following him!' He said, 'Yes, I was.' They said, 'Then present it.' He said: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for prayer, he faced the qiblah and raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders, then said Allahu Akbar. When he bowed, he said the takbir and raised his hands when bowing, then he straightened his back, neither raising his head nor lowering it. Then he raised his head and said, "Allah hears the one who praises Him," and raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders, then he stood straight. Then he prostrated and pointed his toes toward the qiblah. Then he raised his head and said Allahu Akbar, then folded his left leg and sat, and straightened himself until every bone returned to its place. Then he said Allahu Akbar. When he stood from the two rak'ahs, he said the takbir, then stood. When it was the rak'ah in which the prayer would end, he moved his left leg back and sat on it, leaning on his left side, then he said the salam.'
