✧ A man from the people of Najd came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with disheveled hair; the murmur of his voice could be heard but what he was saying could not be understood until he came near to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and it turned out he was asking about Islam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “Five prayers in the day and night.” He said, “Are there any others due on me?” He said, “No, unless you do voluntary ones.” He said: And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “And fasting the month of Ramadan.” He said, “Is there any other due on me?” He said, “No, unless you do voluntary ones.” He said: And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned zakah to him. He said, “Is there any other due on me?” He said, “No, unless you do voluntary ones.” He said: The man turned away saying, “By Allah, I will not add to this nor subtract from it anything.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “He will succeed if he is truthful.”

رواية مالك أصح من رواية إسماعيل بن جعفر لأنه أحفظ وقد تابعه الرواة ولعل إسماعيل نقله بالمعنى
machine translationThe narration of Mālik is more sound (aṣaḥḥ) than the narration of Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, because he is a better memorizer (aḥfaẓ) and the narrators corroborated him; and perhaps Ismāʿīl transmitted it by meaning.
