What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationMy father said: This is a mistake that Ibn ʿUyaynah made. It has no basis. We do not know how he made the mistake or what he intended.

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationI said to Abū Zurʿah: He has both hadiths? He said: One of them, and the other is a mistake.

machine translationI said to Abū Zurʿah: He has both hadiths? He said: One of them, and the other is a mistake.

machine translationIbn ʿUyaynah narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from ʿUmārah b. ʿUmayr, from Abū Maʿmar, from Khabbāb. Abū Zurʿah found it defective (muʿall), because this chain belongs only to the text "We used to know his recitation by the movement of his beard", and al-Aʿmash only narrated the hadith of the scorching ground (al-ramḍāʾ) from Abū Isḥāq, from Saʿīd b. Wahb, from Khabbāb. Wakīʿ erred in it and said "from Ḥārithah" instead of Saʿīd b. Wahb.
