✧ Mu'adh b. Jabal came to us in Yemen; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had sent him to us. I heard his takbir with the dawn: a man with a hoarse voice. I took a liking to him and did not part from him until I buried him in al-Sham. Then I looked for the most knowledgeable of people after him, so I went to Ibn Mas'ud and kept close to him until he died. He said to me: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'How will it be for you when rulers are placed over you who pray the prayer at other than its time?' I said, 'What do you command me to do if I live to see that, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Pray the prayer at its time, and make your prayer with them a voluntary prayer.'
