✧ The admonition to prevent reliance on the writings of a person without preserving them

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَخْزُومِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصَمُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْأَصَمِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَرَأَيْتَ جَنَّةً عَرْضُهَا السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ فَأَيْنَ النَّارُ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَرَأَيْتَ هَذَا اللَّيْلَ قَدْ كَانَ ثُمَّ لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَيْنَ جُعِلَ؟ » قَالَ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ»

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “O Muḥammad, do you see that a Paradise whose width is the heavens and the earth—where is the Fire?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Do you see this night? It has come and then nothing is left of it. Where was it placed?” He said, “Allah knows best.” He said, “Indeed, Allah does whatever He wills.”
