حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ عَنْ رَبِيعِ بْنِ عُمَيْلَةَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ:
اخْتَلَفَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ فَتَفَاخَرَا فَقَالَ الْكُوفِيُّ: نَحْنُ أَصْحَابُ يَوْمِ الْقَادِسِيَّةِ وَيَوْمِ كَذَا [وَيَوْمِ كَذَا] [١]وَيَوْمِ كَذَا، وَقَالَ الشَّامِيُّ: نَحْنُ أَصْحَابُ الْيَرْمُوكِ وَيَوْمِ كَذَا وَيَوْمِ كَذَا، فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: كِلَاهُمَا لَمْ يُشْهِدْهُ اللهُ هُلْكَ عَادٍ وَثَمُودَ لَمْ يُؤَامِرْهُ اللهُ فِيهِمَا لَمَّا أَهْلَكَهُمَا، وَمَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ أَحْرَى أَنْ تَدْفَعَ [٢]عَنْهَا عَظِيمَةً، يَعْنِي الْكُوفَةَ
