If people had observed the limit of divorce, no man would regret a wife whom he divorces: either while she is pregnant and her pregnancy has become evident, or while she is in a state of purity in which he has not had intercourse with her since she became pure. [He waits] [1] until, when she is at the beginning of her waiting period, [he divorces her] [2]. Then if it appears to him that he should take her back, [he takes her back] [3], and if it appears to him that he should let her go, he lets her go.
