Ibn Umm Maktum and the revelation of Surat Abasa
ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ وَنُزُولُ سُورَةِ عَبَسَ: وَقَدْ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى سُورَةَ عَبَسَ مُعَاتِبًا بِهَا نَبِيَّهُ ﷺ فِي تَوَلِّيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ فَأَكْرَمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ابْنَ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ فَكَانَ غَالِبًا مَا يَسْتَعْمِلُهُ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ نِيَابَةً عَنْهُ ﷺ.
Translation
✧ Ibn Umm Maktūm and the Revelation of Sūrat ʿAbasa: Allah, exalted is He, revealed Sūrat ʿAbasa, reproaching thereby His Prophet ﷺ for turning away from Ibn Umm Maktūm. The Prophet ﷺ then honored Ibn Umm Maktūm, and he was often appointed by him over Madinah as his deputy ﷺ.
