Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors
اسْتِبْدَادُ قَوْمٍ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ بِوِلَايَةِ الْبَيْتِ قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: ثُمَّ إنَّ غُبْشَانَ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ وَلِيَتْ الْبَيْتَ دُونَ بَنِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَاةَ، وَكَانَ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ مِنْهُمْ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْغُبْشَانِيُّ، وَقُرَيْشٌ إذْ ذَاكَ حُلُولٌ وَصِرَمٌ، وَبُيُوتَاتٌ مُتَفَرِّقُونَ فِي قَوْمِهِمْ مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ، فَوَلِيَتْ خُزَاعَةُ الْبَيْتَ يَتَوَارَثُونَ ذَلِكَ كَابِرًا عَنْ كَابِرٍ، حَتَّى كَانَ آخِرُهُمْ حُلَيْلُ بْنُ حَبَشِيَّةَ بْنِ سَلُولَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْخُزَاعِيَّ.
Translation
✧ The exclusive control of the House by a group of Khuzāʿah Ibn Isḥāq said: Then the Ghubshān of Khuzāʿah took charge of the House to the exclusion of Banū Bakr b. ʿAbd Manāh. The one among them who held this office was ʿAmr b. al-Ḥārith al-Ghubshānī. Quraysh at that time were scattered settlements, separated household groups, and dispersed houses among their people of Banū Kinānah. So Khuzāʿah held charge of the House, inheriting it one generation after another, until the last of them was Ḥulayl b. Ḥabshiyyah b. Salūl b. Kaʿb b. ʿAmr al-Khuzāʿī.
