Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors

[ صِدْقُ كَهَانَةِ سَطِيحٍ وَشِقٍّ ] قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: فَهَذَا الَّذِي عَنَى سَطِيحٌ الْكَاهِنُ بِقَوْلِهِ: لَيَهْبِطَنَّ أَرْضَكُمْ الْحَبَشُ، فَلَيَمْلِكُنَّ مَا بَيْنَ أَبْيَنَ إلَى جُرَشَ. وَاَلَّذِي عَنَى شِقٌّ الْكَاهِنُ بِقَوْلِهِ: لَيَنْزِلَنَّ أَرْضَكُمْ السُّودَانُ، فَلَيَغْلِبُنَّ عَلَى كُلِّ طِفْلَةٍ الْبَنَانَ، وَلَيَمْلِكُنَّ مَا بَيْنَ أَبْيَنَ إلَى نَجْرَانَ.

Translation

✧ Ibn Hishām said: This is what the soothsayer Saṭīḥ meant by his saying, "The Abyssinians will certainly descend upon your land, and they will certainly take possession of what lies between Abyan and Jurash." And what the soothsayer Shiqq meant by his saying, "The blacks will certainly alight upon your land, and they will certainly overcome every fair-skinned one, taking them by the fingertips, and they will certainly take possession of what lies between Abyan and Najrān."
