Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors
[ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَأَوْلَادُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ صَاحِبِ الْقِدَاحِ ] فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ لِصَاحِبِ الْقِدَاحِ: اضْرِبْ عَلَى بَنِيَّ هَؤُلَاءِ بِقِدَاحِهِمْ هَذِهِ وَأَخْبَرَهُ بِنَذْرِهِ الَّذِي نَذَرَ، فَأَعْطَاهُ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ قِدْحَهُ الَّذِي فِيهِ اسْمُهُ، وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ أَصْغَرَ بَنِي أَبِيهِ، كَانَ هُوَ وَالزُّبَيْرُ وَأَبُو طَالِبٍ لِفَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَائِذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ مَخْزُومِ بْنِ يَقَظَةَ بْنِ مُرَّةَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيِّ بْنِ غَالِبِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: عَائِذُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنُ مَخْزُومٍ.
Translation
✧ [ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib and His Sons before the Keeper of the Divining Arrows] ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib said to the keeper of the divining arrows: "Cast lots for these sons of mine with these arrows of theirs," and he informed him of the vow he had made. Each man among them gave him his arrow, upon which his name was written. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib was the youngest of his father's sons; he, al-Zubayr, and Abū Ṭālib were born to Fāṭimah bt. ʿAmr b. ʿĀʾidh b. ʿAbd b. ʿImrān b. Makhzūm b. Yaqaẓah b. Murrah b. Kaʿb b. Luʾayy b. Ghālib b. Fihr. Ibn Hishām said: ʿĀʾidh b. ʿImrān b. Makhzūm.
