Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors
[ سِيَاقَةُ النَّسَبِ مِنْ وَلَدِ إسْمَاعِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ ] [ أَوْلَادُ إسْمَاعِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَنَسَبُ أُمِّهِمْ ] قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَكَّائِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إسْحَاقَ الْمُطَّلِبِيِّ قَالَ: وَلَدَ إسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ رَجُلًا: نَابِتًا، وَكَانَ أَكْبَرَهُمْ، وقَيْذَرُ، وَأَذْبُلَ، وَمُبِشًّا، وَمِسْمَعًا، وَمَاشِي، وَدِمَّا، وَأَذَرُ، وَطَيْمَا، وَيَطُورَ، ونَبِشَ، وقَيْذُما. وَأُمُّهُمْ ( رَعْلَةُ ) بِنْتُ مُضَاضِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْجُرْهُمِيُّ - قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَيُقَالُ: مِضَاضٌ. وَجُرْهُمُ بْنُ قَحْطَانَ، وَقَحْطَانُ أَبُو الْيَمَنِ كُلِّهَا، وَإِلَيْهِ يَجْتَمِعُ نَسَبُهَا - ابْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ شالَخِ بْنِ أرْفَخْشَذَ بْنِ سَامِ بْنِ نُوحٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: جُرْهُمُ بْنُ يَقْطَنَ بْنِ عَيْبَرِ بْنِ شَالَخٍ. و ( يَقْطَنُ هُوَ ) قَحْطَانُ بْنُ عَيْبَرِ بْنِ شالَخٍ.
Translation
✧ [The enumeration of the lineage from the descendants of Ishmael ﷺ ] [The children of Ishmael ﷺ and the lineage of their mother] Ibn Hishām said: Ziyād b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Bakkāʾī narrated to us, from Muḥammad b. Isḥāq al-Muṭṭalibī, who said: Ishmael b. Abraham (peace be upon them both) begat twelve men: Nābit, and he was the eldest of them, and Qaydhar, and Adhbul, and Mubishsh, and Mismaʿ, and Māshī, and Dimmā, and Adhar, and Ṭaymā, and Yaṭūr, and Nabish, and Qaydhumā. And their mother was (Raʿla) bt. Muḍāḍ b. ʿAmr al-Jurhumī — Ibn Hishām said: and it is said: Miḍāḍ. And Jurhum b. Qaḥṭān, and Qaḥṭān is the father of all Yemen, and to him its lineage converges — b. ʿĀmir b. Shālakh b. Arfakhshadh b. Sām b. Nūḥ. Ibn Isḥāq said: Jurhum b. Yaqṭan b. ʿAybar b. Shālakh. And (Yaqṭan is) Qaḥṭān b. ʿAybar b. Shālakh.
