Then the year 363 AH began
فِيهَا عُمِلَتِ الْبِدْعَةُ الشَّنْعَاءُ عَلَى عَادَةِ الرَّوَافِضِ، وَوَقَعَتْ فِتْنَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ بِبَغْدَادَ بَيْنَ أَهْلِ السُّنَّةِ وَالرَّافِضَةِ، وَكِلَا الْفَرِيقَيْنِ قَلِيلُ عَقَلٍ، بَعِيدٌ عَنِ السَّدَادِ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ جَمَاعَةً مِنْ أَهْلِ السُّنَّةِ أَرْكَبُوا امْرَأَةً وَسَمَّوْهَا عَائِشَةَ، وَتَسَمَّى بَعْضُهُمْ بِطَلْحَةَ، وَبَعْضُهُمْ بِالزُّبَيْرِ وَقَالُوا: نُقَاتِلُ أَصْحَابَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقُتِلَ مِنَ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ، وَعَاثَتِ الْعَيَّارُونَ فِي الْبَلَدِ بِالْفَسَادِ وَنَهْبِ الْأَمْوَالِ وَقَتْلِ الرِّجَالِ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْهُمْ فَقُتِلُوا وَصُلِبُوا، فَسَكَنَتِ النُّفُوسُ.
Translation
✧ In it the heinous innovation was carried out according to the custom of the Rāfiḍah, and a great fitnah occurred in Baghdad between the Sunnis and the Rāfiḍah, and each of the two factions had little sense, far from right guidance. That is because a group of the Sunnis mounted a woman and named her ʿĀʾishah, and some of them called themselves Ṭalḥah, and some al-Zubayr, and they said: “We fight the supporters of ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib.” Many people from both factions were killed, and the ʿayyārūn spread corruption in the city, plundering wealth and killing men. Then a group of them was seized, and they were killed and crucified, and souls were calmed.
