Then the year 359 AH began
وَفِيهَا، فِي رَمَضَانَ، وَقَعَ حَرِيقٌ عَظِيمٌ بِبَغْدَاذَ فِي سُوقِ الثُّلَاثَاءِ، فَاحْتَرَقَ جَمَاعَةُ رِجَالٍ وَنِسَاءٍ، وَأَمَّا الرِّحَالُ، وَغَيْرُهَا فَكَثِيرٌ، وَوَقَعَ الْحَرِيقُ أَيْضًا فِي أَرْبَعَةِ مَوَاضِعَ مِنَ الْجَانِبِ الْغَرْبِيِّ فِيهَا أَيْضًا. قَالَ ابْنُ الْجَوْزِيِّ: وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ نَقَصَتْ دِجْلَةُ حَتَّى غَارَتِ الْآبَارُ. وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ الشَّرِيفُ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ النَّقِيبُ. قَالَ: وَانْقَضَّ كَوْكَبٌ فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ، فَأَضَاءَتْ مِنْهُ الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى بَقِيَ لَهُ شُعَاعٌ كَالشَّمْسِ، ثُمَّ سُمِعَ لَهُ صَوْتٌ كَالرَّعْدِ.
Translation
✧ In it, in Ramadan, a great fire occurred in Baghdad in the Tuesday Market, and a group of men and women burned, and as for the goods and other things, they were many. The fire also occurred in four places on the western side, also in them. Ibn al-Jawzi said: In this year, the Tigris decreased until the wells dried up. The people performed the pilgrimage under the leadership of the Sharif Abu Ahmad al-Naqib. He said: A star fell in Dhu al-Hijjah, and from it the world was illuminated until its ray remained like the sun, then a sound was heard from it like thunder.
