Then the year 359 AH began
وَفِيهَا كَانَتِ الْخُطْبَةُ بِمَكَّةَ لِلْمُطِيعِ لِلَّهِ وَلِلْقَرَامِطَةِ الْهَجَرِيِّينَ، وَخُطِبَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ لِلْمُعِزِّ لِدِينِ اللَّهِ الْعَلَوِيِّ، وَخَطَبَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْمُوسَوِيُّ وَالِدُ الشَّرِيفِ الرَّضِيِّ خَارِجَ الْمَدِينَةِ لِلْمُطِيعِ لِلَّهِ. قَالَ ابْنُ الْأَثِيرِ: وَفِي الْمُحَرَّمِ مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ خُطِبَ لِلْمُعِزِّ الْفَاطِمِيِّ بِدِمَشْقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ فَلَاحٍ الَّذِي سَيَّرَهُ جَوْهَرٌ الْقَائِدُ مِنْ مِصْرَ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَقَاتَلَهُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ طُغْجٍ بِالرَّمْلَةِ، فَغَلَبَهُ ابْنُ فَلَاحٍ، وَأَسَرَهُ وَسَيَّرَهُ إِلَى جَوْهَرٍ، فَأَرْسَلَهُ جَوْهَرٌ إِلَى الْمُعِزِّ وَهُوَ بِإِفْرِيقِيَّةَ، وَاسْتَقَرَّتْ يَدُ الْفَاطِمِيِّينَ عَلَى دِمَشْقَ أَيْضًا بَعْدَ حُرُوبٍ يَطُولُ ذِكْرُهَا، تَطَاوَلَ أَمْرُهَا إِلَى آخِرِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ.
Translation
✧ In this year the khuṭbah at Makkah was delivered for al-Muṭīʿ li-llāh and for the Qarmaṭians of Hajar, while in Madinah it was delivered for al-Muʿizz li-Dīn Allāh al-ʿAlawī. Abū Aḥmad al-Mūsawī, the father of al-Sharīf al-Raḍī, delivered the khuṭbah outside Madinah for al-Muṭīʿ li-llāh. Ibn al-Athīr said: In Muḥarram of this year the khuṭbah was delivered for al-Muʿizz al-Fāṭimī in Damascus, by the command of Jaʿfar b. Falāḥ, whom the commander Jawhar had sent from Egypt to Syria. Abū Muḥammad al-Ḥasan b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ṭughj fought him at al-Ramlah, but Ibn Falāḥ defeated him, captured him, and sent him to Jawhar. Jawhar then sent him to al-Muʿizz while he was in Ifrīqiyah. The hand of the Fāṭimids was established over Damascus as well, after wars whose mention would be lengthy and whose affair extended to the end of this year.
