Translation

✧ [ The Children of ʿAbd Manāf and Their Mothers ] Ibn Isḥāq said: ʿAbd Manāf—whose name was al-Mughīrah b. Quṣayy—fathered four persons: Hāshim b. ʿAbd Manāf, ʿAbd Shams b. ʿAbd Manāf, and al-Muṭṭalib b. ʿAbd Manāf—their mother was ʿĀtikah bt. Murrah b. Hilāl b. Fālij b. Dhakwān b. Thaʿlabah b. Buhthah b. Sulaym b. Manṣūr b. ʿIkrimah—and Nawfal b. ʿAbd Manāf, whose mother was Wāqidah bt. ʿAmr al-Māzinīyah, from Māzin b. Manṣūr b. ʿIkrimah. They had a fifth brother who is not well known: Abū ʿAmr, whose name was ʿAbd; his original name was ʿAbd Quṣayy, but people said ʿAbd b. Quṣayy. He died leaving no descendants. This was stated by al-Zubayr b. Bakkār and others. They also had six sisters: Tumāḍir, Ḥayyah, Rayṭah, Qilābah, Umm al-Akhtham, and Umm Sufyān. All of these were the children of ʿAbd Manāf.
