Tarikh (al-Tabari) 4193
Then the year 352 AH began
Translation
✧ In this year, on the tenth of al-Muḥarram, Muʿizz al-Dawlah commanded the people to close their shops, suspend the markets, buying and selling, and to display lamentation, and to wear (domes they had made) of sackcloth, and that women should go out with disheveled hair, blackened faces, having torn their garments, wandering through the city wailing and striking their faces for al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī ؓ. The people did that, and the Sunnis had no power to prevent it because of the large number of the Shīʿah, and because the ruling authority was with them.
