Then the year 347 AH began
فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ كَانَ بِبِلَادِ الْجَبَلِ وَبَاءٌ عَظِيمٌ، مَاتَ فِيهِ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْبِلَادِ ، وَكَانَ أَكْثَرُ مَنْ مَاتَ فِي النِّسَاءِ، وَالصِّبْيَانِ، وَتَعَذَّرَ عَلَى النَّاسِ عِيَادَةُ الْمَرْضَى، وَشُهُودُ الْجَنَائِزِ لِكَثْرَتِهَا.
Translation
✧ In this year there occurred in the lands of al-Jabal a great epidemic, in which most of the people of the lands died, and most of those who died were among the women and children. People found it difficult to visit the sick and to attend funerals because of their great number.
