Then the year 342 AH began
فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ فِي الْحَادِي وَالْعِشْرِينَ مِنْ شُبَاطَ، ظَهَرَ بِسَوَادِ الْعِرَاقِ جَرَادٌ كَثِيرٌ أَقَامَ أَيَّامًا ، وَأَثَّرَ فِي الْغَلَّاتِ آثَارًا قَبِيحَةً، وَكَذَلِكَ ظَهَرَ بِالْأَهْوَازِ، وَدِيَارِ الْمَوْصِلِ، وَالْجَزِيرَةِ وَالشَّامِ، وَسَائِرِ النَّوَاحِي، فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ مَا فَعَلَهُ بِالْعِرَاقِ.
Translation
✧ In this year, on the twenty-first of Shubāṭ, a great deal of locusts appeared in the Sawād of Iraq, remaining for days, and they caused ugly damage to the crops. Likewise they appeared in al-Ahwāz, the abodes of al-Mawṣil, al-Jazīrah, and al-Shām, and the rest of the districts, and they did the like of what they had done in Iraq.
