✧ Mention of Sayf al-Dawlah's raid on the lands of the Byzantines In this year, Sayf al-Dawlah b. Ḥamdān entered the lands of the Byzantines, raided and penetrated deeply into them, conquered many fortresses there, and took captives and booty. When he wanted to leave the Byzantine territory, they blocked the mountain passes against him, and those Muslims who were with him perished, either as captives or killed. The Byzantines recovered the spoils and the captives, and seized the baggage and wealth of the Muslims. Sayf al-Dawlah escaped with a small number.
