Then the year 339 AH began
ذِكْرُ إِعَادَةِ الْقَرَامِطَةِ الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ أَعَادَ الْقَرَامِطَةُ الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ، وَقَالُوا: أَخَذْنَاهُ بِأَمْرٍ، وَأَعَدْنَاهُ بِأَمْرٍ. وَكَانَ بُجْكُمُ قَدْ بَذَلَ لَهُمْ فِي رَدِّهِ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، فَلَمْ يُجِيبُوهُ، وَرَدُّوهُ الْآنَ بِغَيْرِ شَيْءٍ فِي ذِي الْقِعْدَةِ، فَلَمَّا أَرَادُوا رَدَّهُ حَمَلُوهُ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ، وَعَلَّقُوهُ بِجَامِعِهَا حَتَّى رَآهُ النَّاسُ، ثُمَّ حَمَلُوهُ إِلَى مَكَّةَ، ( وَكَانُوا أَخَذُوهُ مِنْ رُكْنِ الْبَيْتِ الْحَرَامِ سَنَةَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ، وَكَانَ مُكْثُهُ عِنْدَهُمُ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً ).
Translation
✧ Mention of the Qarmatians returning the Black Stone In this year, the Qarmatians returned the Black Stone to Makkah, and they said: We took it by a command, and we return it by a command. Bujkam had offered them fifty thousand dinars for its return, but they did not respond to him, and they returned it now for nothing in Dhu al-Qiʿdah. When they intended to return it, they carried it to al-Kufah and hung it in its congregational mosque until the people saw it, then they carried it to Makkah. (They had taken it from the corner of the Sacred House in the year three hundred seventeen, and its stay with them was twenty-two years).
