Then the year 337 AH began
قَالَ ابْنُ الْجَوْزِيِّ: وَفِي رَمَضَانَ انْتَهَتْ زِيَادَةُ دِجْلَةَ إِلَى إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ ذِرَاعًا وَثُلُثٍ، فَغَرِقَتِ الضِّيَاعُ وَالدُّورُ الَّتِي عَلَيْهَا، وَأَشْرَفَ الْجَانِبُ الشَّرْقِيُّ عَلَى الْغَرَقِ، وَهَمَّ النَّاسُ بِالْهَرَبِ مِنْهُ.
Translation
✧ Ibn al-Jawzī said: In Ramaḍān, the rise of the Tigris reached twenty-one cubits and a third, and the estates and houses upon it were flooded, and the eastern side was on the verge of drowning, and the people resolved to flee from it.
