Translation
✧ Mention of the rebellion of Jumān at al-Raḥbah and what happened with him This Jumān was one of the companions of Tūzūn, and he became part of the retinue of Nāṣir al-Dawlah b. Ḥamdān. When Nāṣir al-Dawlah was in Baghdād on the eastern side, fighting Muʿizz al-Dawlah, Nāṣir al-Dawlah attached all the Daylamīs who were with him to Jumān because of his lack of trust in them, appointed him over al-Raḥbah, and sent him there. His authority there grew great, and men resorted to him. He openly rebelled against Nāṣir al-Dawlah and resolved to seize control of al-Raqqah and the lands of Muḍar. He marched to al-Raqqah and besieged it for seventeen days. Its people fought him and defeated him. The people of al-Raḥbah fell upon his companions and administrators and killed them because of their severe oppression and bad conduct. When he returned from al-Raqqah, he put the sword to its people and inflicted a great slaughter upon them. Nāṣir al-Dawlah sent his chamberlain Yārūkh against him with an army. They fought on the bank of the Euphrates, and Jumān was defeated. He fell into the Euphrates and drowned. His companions sought safe-conduct from Yārūkh, and Jumān was brought out of the water and buried on the spot.
