Translation
✧ Then the year 334 AH began Account of the death of Tuzun and the command of Ibn Shirzad In this year, in al-Muharram, Tuzun died in his house in Baghdad. His period of command was two years, four months, and nineteen days, and Ibn Shirzad wrote for him the period of his command, except for three days. When Tuzun died, Ibn Shirzad was at Hit to clear its funds. When the news reached him, he resolved to conclude the command for Nasir al-Dawla b. Hamdan, but the troops were agitated, and they concluded the leadership over them for Ibn Shirzad. He came and encamped at Bab Harb at the beginning of Safar, and all the troops went out to him, gathered around him, and swore allegiance to him. He sent to al-Mustakfi billah to swear allegiance to him, and he answered him to that, and swore allegiance to him in the presence of the judges and the notaries. Ibn Shirzad entered to him and returned honored, being addressed as Amīr al-Umarāʾ. The troops increased greatly, and the funds became too tight for him, so he sent to Nasir al-Dawla with Abu ʿAbd Allah Muhammad b. Abi Musa al-Hashimi, who was at Mosul, demanding that he carry money and promising him to return the leadership to him. He sent him five hundred thousand dirhams and much food, and he distributed them among his army, but it had no effect. So he assessed the funds on the tax collectors, the secretaries, the merchants, and others for the soldiers' stipends, and the people in Baghdad were wronged. Thieves appeared and took the money, and the merchants fled. He appointed Yanal Kusha over Wasit and al-Lashkari over Tikrit. As for Yanal, he was the secretary of Muʿizz al-Dawla b. Buwayh, and he summoned him and he joined him. As for al-Fath al-Lashkari, he went to Nasir al-Dawla at Mosul and joined him, and he confirmed him over Tikrit.
