Then the year 333 AH began
ذِكْرُ وَصُولِ مُعِزِّ الدَّوْلَةِ إِلَى وَاسِطَ وَعَوْدِهِ عَنْهَا فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ آخِرَ رَجَبٍ، وَصَلَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بُوَيْهِ إِلَى مَدِينَةِ وَاسِطَ، فَسَمِعَ تُوزُونَ بِهِ، فَسَارَ هُوَ وَالْمُسْتَكْفِي بِاللَّهِ مِنْ بَغْدَاذَ إِلَى وَاسِطَ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ بِمَسِيرِهِمْ إِلَيْهِ، فَارَقَهَا سَادِسَ رَمَضَانَ، وَوَصَلَ الْخَلِيفَةُ وَتُوزُونُ إِلَى وَاسِطَ، فَأَرْسَلَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الْبَرِيدِيُّ يَضْمَنُ الْبَصْرَةَ، فَأَجَابَهُ تُوزُونُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ وَضَمِنَهُ، وَسَلَّمَهَا إِلَيْهِ، وَعَادَ الْخَلِيفَةُ وَتُوزُونُ إِلَى بَغْدَاذَ، فَدَخَلَاهَا ثَامِنَ شَوَّالٍ مِنَ السَّنَةِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of Muʿizz al-Dawlah's arrival at Wāsiṭ and his return from it. In this year, at the end of Rajab, Muʿizz al-Dawlah Abū al-Ḥusayn Aḥmad b. Buwayh arrived at the city of Wāsiṭ. Tūzūn heard of him, so he and al-Mustakfī bi-llāh traveled from Baghdādh to Wāsiṭ. When Muʿizz al-Dawlah heard of their march toward him, he left it on the sixth of Ramaḍān. The Caliph and Tūzūn reached Wāsiṭ. Abū al-Qāsim al-Barīdī sent to guarantee al-Baṣrah, and Tūzūn answered him to that and guaranteed it, and handed it over to him. The Caliph and Tūzūn returned to Baghdādh and entered it on the eighth of Shawwāl of the year.
