Then the year 332 AH began
وَفِيهَا فِي رَبِيعٍ الْأَوَّلِ، اسْتَعْمَلَ نَاصِرُ الدَّوْلَةِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُقَاتِلٍ عَلَى طَرِيقِ الْفُرَاتِ، وَدِيَارِ مُضَرَ، وَجُنْدِ قِنَّسْرِينَ، وَالْعَوَاصِمِ، وَحِمْصَ، وَأَنْفَذَهُ إِلَيْهَا مِنَ الْمَوْصِلِ وَمَعَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنَ الْقُوَّادِ، ثُمَّ اسْتَعْمَلَ بَعْدَهُ فِي رَجَبٍ مِنَ السَّنَةِ ابْنَ عَمِّهِ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ حَمْدَانَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ، فَلَمَّا وَصَلَ إِلَى الرَّقَّةِ مَنَعَهُ أَهْلُهَا، فَقَاتَلَهُمْ فَظَفِرَ بِهِمْ، وَأَحْرَقَ مِنَ الْبَلَدِ قِطْعَةً، وَأَخَذَ رُؤَسَاءَ أَهْلِهَا وَسَارَ إِلَى حَلَبَ.
Translation
✧ In it, in Rabīʿ al-Awwal, Nāṣir al-Dawlah b. Ḥamdān appointed Abū Bakr Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Muqātil over the Euphrates road, the dwellings of Muḍar, the army of Qinnasrīn, the ʿAwāṣim, and Ḥimṣ, and sent him to them from al-Mawṣil accompanied by a group of commanders. Then, after him, in Rajab of the year, he appointed his cousin Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn b. Saʿīd b. Ḥamdān over that. When he reached al-Raqqah, its people prevented him, so he fought them and prevailed over them, burned a portion of the town, seized its leading men, and marched to Ḥalab.
