Then the Year 326 AH Began
وَوُجِدَ يَهُودِيٌّ مَعَ مُسْلِمَةٍ، وَكَانَ الْيَهُودِيُّ غُلَامًا لِجَهْبَذٍ يَهُودِيٍّ لِابْنِ خَلَفٍ، فَضَرَبَهُ صَاحِبُ الشُّرْطَةِ، فَلَمْ يَرْضَ ابْنُ خَلَفٍ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ صَاحِبَ الشُّرْطَةِ بِحَضْرَةِ الْيَهُودِ فِي يَوْمِ جُمْعَةٍ، فَافْتَتَنَ النَّاسُ لِذَلِكَ وَكَانَ أَمْرًا قَبِيحًا.
Translation
✧ A Jew was found with a Muslim woman. The Jew was a servant of a Jewish money-changer who worked for Ibn Khalaf. The chief of police beat him, but Ibn Khalaf was not satisfied until he beat the chief of police in the presence of the Jews on a Friday. People were distressed by that, and it was an ugly affair.
