مَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي سَنَةُ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ مِنَ الْأَكَابِرِ أَسْلَمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ هَاشِمِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، أَبُو الْجَعْدِ أَسْلَمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ هَاشِمِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، أَبُو الْجَعْدِ : وَلِيَ الْقَضَاءَ بِالْأَنْدَلُسِ، وَتُوُفِّيَ بِهَا فِي رَجَبِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُغَلِّسِ، أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُغَلِّسِ، أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ : حَدَّثَ عَنْ حَوْثَرَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُنْقِرِي، وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجِّ، رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ شَاهِينَ، وَيُوسُفُ الْقَوَّاسُ، وَأَبُو حَفْصٍ الْكَتَّانِيُّ. وَكَانَ ثِقَةً. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَشَّارِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الشَّاعِرُ، الْمَعْرُوفُ بِابْنِ الْعَلَّافِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَشَّارِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الشَّاعِرُ، الْمَعْرُوفُ بِابْنِ الْعَلَّافِ : حَدَّثَ عَنْ أَبِي عُمَرَ الدُّورِيِّ وَغَيْرِهِ. رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ شَاهِينَ، وَابْنُ حَيْوَيَةَ وَغَيْرُهُمَا. وعن عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الشَّاعِرُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قَالَ: كُنْتُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فِي دَارِ الْمُعْتَضِدِ وَقَدْ أَطَلْنَا الْجُلُوسَ بِحَضْرَتِهِ، ثُمَّ نَهَضْنَا إِلَى مَجْلِسِنَا مِنْ حُجْرَةٍ كَانَتْ مَرْسُومَةً بِالنُّدَمَاءِ، فَلَمَّا أَخَذْنَا مَضَاجِعَنَا وَهَدَأَتِ الْعُيُونُ أَحْسَسْنَا بِفَتْحِ الْأَبْوَابِ وَالْأَقْفَالِ بِسُرْعَةٍ، فَارْتَاعَتِ الْجَمَاعَةُ لِذَلِكَ وَجَلَسْنَا فِي فُرُشِنَا، فَدَخَلَ إِلَيْنَا خَادِمٌ مِنْ خَدَمِ الْمُعْتَضِدِ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَقُولُ لَكُمْ أَرِقْتُ اللَّيْلَةَ بَعْدَ انْصِرَافِكُمْ فَقُلْتُ: وَلَمَّا انْتَبَهْنَا لِلْخَيَالِ الَّذِي سَرَى إِذِ الدَّارُ قَفْرٌ وَالْمَزَارُ بَعِيدُ وَقَدِ ارْتَجَّ عَلَيَّ تَمَامُهُ فَأَجِيزُوهُ وَمَنْ أَجَازَهُ بِمَا يُوَافِقُ غَرَضِي أَجْزَلْتُ لَهُ جَائِزَتَهُ، وَفِي الْجَمَاعَةِ كُلُّ شَاعِرٍ مَجِيدٍ مَذْكُورٍ وَأَدِيبٍ فَاضِلٍ مَشْهُورٍ، فَأَفْحَمْتُ الْجَمَاعَةَ وَأَطَالُوا الْفِكْرَ فَقُلْتُ مُبْتَدِرًا: فَقُلْتُ لِعَيْنِي عَاوِدِي النَّوْمَ وَاهْجَعِي لَعَلَّ خَيَالًا طَارِقًا سَيَعُودُ فَرَجَعَ الْخَادِمُ إِلَيْهِ بِهَذَا الْجَوَابِ، ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ: أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَقُولُ لَكَ: أَحْسَنْتَ وَمَا قَصَّرْتَ وَقَدْ وَقَعَ بَيْتُكَ الْمَوْقِعَ الَّذِي أُرِيدُهُ وَقَدْ أَمَرَ لَكَ بِجَائِزَةٍ وَهَا هِيَ، فَأَخَذْتُهَا وَازْدَادَ غَيْظُ الْجَمَاعَةِ مِنِّي. تُوُفِّيَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ، وَقِيلَ: فِي سَنَةِ ثَمَانِ عَشْرَةَ عَنْ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ. الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ صَالِحِ بْنِ عَاصِمِ بْنِ زُفَرَ، أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ صَالِحِ بْنِ عَاصِمِ بْنِ زُفَرَ، أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ : وُلِدَ سَنَةَ عَشْرٍ وَمِائَتَيْنِ، وَسَكَنَ بَغْدَادَ، وَحَدَّثَ بِهَا عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ، وَهُدْبَةَ، وَطَالُوتَ، وَكَامِلِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ. رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ، وَالْكَتَّانِيُّ، وَكَانَ وَاضِعًا لِلْحَدِيثِ. تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْطَاكِيُّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْطَاكِيُّ قَاضِي ثُغُورِ الشَّامِ وَيُعْرَفُ بِابْنِ الصَّابُونِيِّ : قَدِمَ بَغْدَادَ وَحَدَّثَ بِهَا عَنْ جَمَاعَةٍ، فَرَوَى عَنْهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الشَّافِعِيُّ، وَالدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ وَكَانَ ثِقَةً. وَتُوُفِّيَ بِبَغْدَادَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مَحْمُودٍ، أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الْبَلْخِيُّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مَحْمُودٍ، أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الْبَلْخِيُّ : مِنْ مُتَكَلِّمِي الْمُعْتَزِلَةِ الْبَغْدَادِيِّينَ، صَنَّفَ فِي الْكَلَامِ كُتُبًا كَثِيرَةً، وَأَقَامَ بِبَغْدَادَ مُدَّةً طَوِيلَةً، وَانْتَشَرَتْ بِهَا كُتُبُهُ، ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَى بَلْخٍ فَأَقَامَ بِهَا إِلَى أَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي شَعْبَانِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ثَابِتِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ خَازِمٍ، أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْحَرِيرِيُّ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ثَابِتِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ خَازِمٍ، أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْحَرِيرِيُّ: مَوْلَى بَنِي تَمِيمٍ كُوفِيُّ الْأَصْلِ، حَدَّثَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجِّ. رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ الْمُظَفَّرِ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ. وَكَانَ مُحُدِّثًا كَثِيرَ الْحَدِيثِ، ثِقَةً فَهْمًا. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ حَرْبِ بْنِ عِيسَى، وَيُعْرَفُ: بِابْنِ حَرْبَوَيْهِ الْقَاضِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ حَرْبِ بْنِ عِيسَى، وَيُعْرَفُ: بِابْنِ حَرْبَوَيْهِ الْقَاضِي : سَمِعَ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَرَفَةَ وَغَيْرَهُ. وَرَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ حَيْوَيَةَ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ. وَكَانَ ثِقَةً عَالِمًا أَمِينًا. وعن أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ يُونُسَ، قَالَ: عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ قَاضِي مِصْرَ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عُبَيْدٍ، قَدِمَ مِصْرَ عَلَى الْقَضَاءِ، وَأَقَامَ بِهَا دَهْرًا طَوِيلًا، وَكَانَ شَيْئًا عَجِيبًا مَا رَأَيْنَا مِثْلَهُ قَبْلَهُ وَلَا بَعْدَهُ، وَكَانَ يَتَفَقَّهُ عَلَى مَذْهَبِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ، وَعُزِلَ عَنِ الْقَضَاءِ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ، وَكَانَ سَبَبُ عَزْلِهِ أَنَّهُ كَتَبَ يَسْتَعْفِي مِنَ الْقَضَاءِ وَوَجَّهَ رَسُولًا إِلَى بَغْدَادَ [يَسْأَلُ فِي عَزْلِهِ، وَكَانَ قَدْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ وَامْتَنَعَ مِنْ أَنْ يَقْضِيَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَكُتِبَ بِعَزْلِهِ وَأُعْفِيَ، فَحَدَّثَ حِينَ جَاءَ عَزْلُهُ فَكُتِبَ عَنْهُ وَرَجَعَ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ ] وَكَانَتْ وَفَاتُهُ بِبَغْدَادَ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً ثَبْتًا. وعن الْبَرْقَانِيُّ، قَالَ: ذَكَرْتُ لِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ الدَّارَقُطْنِيِّ أَبَا عُبَيْدِ بْنَ حَرْبَوَيْهِ، فَذَكَرَ مِنْ جَلَالَتِهِ وَفَضْلِهِ، وَقَالَ: حَدَّثَ عَنْهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ النَّسَائِيُّ فِي [الصَّحِيحِ ] وَلَعَلَّهُ مَاتَ قَبْلَهُ بِعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً. تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ فِي صَفَرِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ، وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْإِصْطَخْرِيُّ، وَدُفِنَ فِي دَارِهِ. 2299 مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَيْرُوزَ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْأَنْمَاطِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَيْرُوزَ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْأَنْمَاطِيُّ : سَمِعَ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَلِيٍّ، وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُثَنَّى وَغَيْرَهُمَا. رَوَى عَنْهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الشَّافِعِيُّ، وَابْنُ الْمُظَفَّرِ، وَالدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُمْ. وَذَكَرَهُ يُوسُفُ الْقَوَّاسُ فِي جُمْلَةِ شُيُوخِهِ الثِّقَاتِ. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ، وَقِيلَ فِي السَّنَةِ الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا. مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُجَيْمِ، أَبُو كَثِيرٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُجَيْمِ، أَبُو كَثِيرٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ: قَدِمَ بَغْدَادَ وَحَدَّثَ بِهَا عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ. رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ الْمُظَفَّرِ، وَابْنُ حَيْوَيَةَ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ. وَكَانَ ثِقَةً. مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَلْخِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَلْخِيُّ: وعن ابْنُ جَهْضَمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْخَوَاصَّ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ لِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ: مَا خَطَوْتُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً خُطْوَةً لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، [وَمَا نَظَرْتُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فِي شَيْءٍ اسْتَحْسَنْتُهُ حَيَاءً مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ]، وَمَا أَمْلَيْتُ عَلَى مَلَكَيَّ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً شَيْئًا وَلَوْ فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ لَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنْهُمَا. أَسْنَدَ مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ قُتَيْبَةَ، وَصَحِبَ ابْنَ خَضْرَوَيْهِ، وَانْتَقَلَ إِلَى سَمَرْقَنْدَ، فَمَاتَ بِهَا فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ الْوَرَّاقُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ الْوَرَّاقُ: صَاحِبُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّيْسَابُورِيِّ ، وَكَانَ لَهُ عِلْمٌ بِالشَّرِيعَةِ، وَكَانَ يَتَكَلَّمُ فِي دَقَائِقِ عُلُومِ الْمُعَامَلَاتِ. وعن أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ، قَالَ: قَالَ: أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ الْوَرَّاقُ: مَنْ غَضَّ بَصَرَهُ عَنْ مُحَرَّمٍ أَوْرَثَهُ اللَّهُ بِذَلِكَ حِكْمَةً عَلَى لِسَانِهِ يَهْتَدِي بِهَا سَامِعُوهُ، وَمَنْ غَضَّ بَصَرَهُ عَنْ شُبْهَةٍ نَوَّرَ اللَّهُ قَلْبَهُ بِنُورٍ يَهْتَدِي بِهِ إِلَى طَرِيقِ مَرْضَاتِهِ. قَالَ السُّلَمِيُّ: تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ الْوَرَّاقُ قَبْلَ الْعِشْرِينَ وَالثَّلَاثِمِائَةِ. يَحْيَىُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُوسَى، أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا الْفَارِسِيُّ يَحْيَىُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُوسَى، أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا الْفَارِسِيُّ: كَتَبَ بِمِصْرَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ صَاحِبِ الشَّافِعِيِّ، وَحَدَّثَ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً صَدُوقًا، حَسَنَ الصَّلَاةِ، شَهِدَ عِنْدَ الْقُضَاةِ. وَتُوُفِّيَ بِمِصْرَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ.

Khālid, Abū al-Jaʿd: He held the judiciary in al-Andalus, and died there in Rajab of this year. Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. al-Mughallis, Abū al-Qāsim Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. al-Mughallis, Abū al-Qāsim: He narrated from Ḥawthara b. Muḥammad al-Munqirī and Abū Saʿīd al-Ashajj. Ibn Shāhīn, Yūsuf al-Qawwās, and Abū Ḥafṣ al-Kattānī narrated from him. He was reliable. He died in Dhū al-Ḥijja of this year. Al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. Bashshār b. Ziyād, Abū Bakr the poet, known as Ibn al-ʿAllāf al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. Bashshār b. Ziyād, Abū Bakr the poet, known as Ibn al-ʿAllāf: He narrated from Abū ʿUmar al-Dūrī and others. Ibn Shāhīn, Ibn Ḥayyawayh, and others narrated from him. From ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abī Bakr the poet, who said: My father narrated to me, saying: I was one night in the palace of al-Muʿtaḍid, and we prolonged sitting in his presence. Then we rose to go to our sitting place in a chamber designated for the boon companions. When we took to our beds and eyes were still, we sensed the opening of doors and locks with speed. The company was alarmed at that, and we sat up in our beds. A servant of al-Muʿtaḍid's servants entered and said: The Commander of the Faithful says to you: I was sleepless tonight after your departure, and I said: When we awoke to the phantom that traveled by night, since the abode is empty and the visit is far, and its completion was withheld from me, so complete it. Whoever completes it in accordance with my aim, I shall make his reward ample. In the company were every excellent, renowned poet and every virtuous, famous man of letters. The company was silenced and prolonged thought, so I said, hastening: I said to my eye: return to sleep and slumber, perchance a phantom visiting by night will return. The servant returned to him with this answer. Then he came back to me and said: The Commander of the Faithful says to you: You have done well and not fallen short. Your verse has fallen in the place I desired, and he has ordered a reward for you, and here it is. I took it, and the vexation of the company toward me increased. Al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī died in this year, and it is said: in the year eighteen, at one hundred years of age. Al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. Zakariyyā b. Ṣāliḥ b. ʿĀṣim b. Zufar, Abū Saʿīd al-ʿAdawī al-Baṣrī al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. Zakariyyā b. Ṣāliḥ b. ʿĀṣim b. Zufar, Abū Saʿīd al-ʿAdawī al-Baṣrī: He was born in the year two hundred ten, resided in Baghdad, and narrated there from Musaddad, Hudba, Ṭālūt, Kāmil b. Ṭalḥa, and others. Al-Dāraquṭnī and al-Kattānī narrated from him. He was a fabricator of hadith. He died in this year. Al-Ḥusayn b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṭākī al-Ḥusayn b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṭākī, judge of the frontier fortresses of Syria, known as Ibn al-Ṣābūnī: He came to Baghdad and narrated there from a group. Abū Bakr al-Shāfiʿī, al-Dāraquṭnī, and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He was reliable. He died in Baghdad in this year. ʿAbd Allāh b. Aḥmad b. Maḥmūd, Abū al-Qāsim al-Balkhī ʿAbd Allāh b. Aḥmad b. Maḥmūd, Abū al-Qāsim al-Balkhī: One of the Muʿtazilī theologians of Baghdad. He composed many books on theology, resided in Baghdad for a long time, and his books spread there. Then he returned to Balkh and remained there until he died in Shaʿbān of this year. ʿUbayd Allāh b. Thābit b. Aḥmad b. Khāzim, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ḥarīrī ʿUbayd Allāh b. Thābit b. Aḥmad b. Khāzim, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ḥarīrī: A client of Banū Tamīm, of Kufan origin. He narrated from Abū Saʿīd al-Ashajj. Ibn al-Muẓaffar and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He was a traditionist with abundant hadith, reliable and discerning. He died in this year. ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. Ḥarb b. ʿĪsā, known as Ibn Ḥarbawayh the judge ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. Ḥarb b. ʿĪsā, known as Ibn Ḥarbawayh the judge: He heard al-Ḥasan b. ʿArafa and others. Ibn Ḥayyawayh and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He was reliable, learned, and trustworthy. From Abū Saʿīd b. Yūnus, who said: ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. Ḥarb, judge of Egypt, was called Abū ʿUbayd. He came to Egypt for the judiciary and remained there a long time. He was something astonishing; we have not seen the like of him before or after. He studied jurisprudence according to the school of Abū Thawr. He was dismissed from the judiciary in the year three hundred eleven. The reason for his dismissal was that he wrote seeking to be excused from the judgeship and sent a messenger to Baghdad [asking for his dismissal. He had locked his door and refrained from judging between people, so his dismissal was written and he was excused. He narrated when his dismissal came, and it was written from him, and he returned to Baghdad]. His death was in Baghdad, and he was reliable and firmly established. Ḥarbawayh to Abū al-Ḥasan al-Dāraquṭnī, and he mentioned his dignity and virtue, and said: Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Nasāʾī narrated from him in [al-Ṣaḥīḥ], although he perhaps died twenty years before him. Abū ʿUbayd died in Ṣafar of this year. Abū Saʿīd al-Iṣṭakhrī prayed over him, and he was buried in his house. Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm b. Nayrūz, Abū Bakr al-Anmāṭī Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm b. Nayrūz, Abū Bakr al-Anmāṭī: He heard ʿAmr b. ʿAlī and Muḥammad b. al-Muthannā and others. Abū Bakr al-Shāfiʿī, Ibn al-Muẓaffar, al-Dāraquṭnī, and others narrated from him. Yūsuf al-Qawwās mentioned him among his reliable shaykhs. He died in this year, and it is said in the year before it. Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. Abī al-Ḥujaym, Abū Kathīr al-Shaybānī al-Baṣrī Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. Abī al-Ḥujaym, Abū Kathīr al-Shaybānī al-Baṣrī: He came to Baghdad and narrated there from Yūnus b. ʿAbd al-Aʿlā and al-Rabīʿ b. Sulaymān. Ibn al-Muẓaffar, Ibn Ḥayyawayh, and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He was reliable. Muḥammad b. al-Faḍl b. al-ʿAbbās, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Balkhī Muḥammad b. al-Faḍl b. al-ʿAbbās, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Balkhī: From Ibn Jahḍam, who said: ʿAlī b. Muḥammad narrated to me, saying: I heard Ibrāhīm al-Khawwāṣ say: Muḥammad b. al-Faḍl said to me: I have not taken a step for forty years for other than God, Mighty and Majestic, [and I have not looked for forty years at anything I admired out of modesty before God, Mighty and Majestic], and I have not dictated to my two recording angels for thirty years anything; and if I did that, I would be ashamed before them. Muḥammad transmitted hadith from Qutayba, accompanied Ibn Khaḍrawayh, and moved to Samarqand, where he died in this year. Muḥammad b. Saʿd, Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Warrāq Muḥammad b. Saʿd, Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Warrāq: Companion of Abū ʿUthmān al-Naysābūrī. He had knowledge of the sacred law, and he spoke on the subtleties of the sciences of transactions. From Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī, who said: Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Warrāq said: Whoever lowers his gaze from a forbidden thing, God bequeaths him thereby wisdom on his tongue by which his hearers are guided. Whoever lowers his gaze from an ambiguous thing, God illuminates his heart with a light by which he is guided to the path of His good pleasure. Al-Sulamī said: Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Warrāq died before the year three hundred twenty. Yaḥyā b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Mūsā, Abū Zakariyyā al-Fārisī Yaḥyā b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Mūsā, Abū Zakariyyā al-Fārisī: He wrote in Egypt from al-Rabīʿ, the companion of al-Shāfiʿī, and narrated. He was reliable, truthful, of excellent prayer, and testified before judges. He died in Egypt in this year.
