Translation

✧ The revolt of Isḥāq b. Aḥmad and his son Ilyās In this year, being three hundred and eleven, Isḥāq b. Aḥmad b. Asad, the paternal uncle of al-Saʿīd Naṣr b. Aḥmad b. Ismāʿīl's father, revolted against al-Saʿīd Naṣr b. Aḥmad b. Ismāʿīl, along with his son Ilyās. Isḥāq was in Samarqand when Aḥmad b. Ismāʿīl was killed and his son Naṣr b. Aḥmad succeeded him. When news of that reached him, he rebelled there, and his son Ilyās took command of the army, and their cause grew strong. They marched toward Bukhārā. Ḥammūyah b. ʿAlī marched against him with an army, and that was in the month of Ramaḍān. They fought a fierce battle, and Isḥāq was defeated and fled to Samarqand. Then he gathered forces and returned a second time, and they fought a fierce battle, and Isḥāq was again defeated. Ḥammūyah pursued him to Samarqand and took it by force. (Isḥāq went into hiding, and Ḥammūyah sought him), set spies and watchers upon him, and matters became difficult for Isḥāq, so he revealed himself and sought a guarantee of safety from Ḥammūyah. Ḥammūyah granted him safety and transported him to Bukhārā, where he remained until he died. As for his son Ilyās, he went to Farghānah and remained there until he came out a second time.
