Bear witness that I have retracted all of that." Then al-Kawsaj arrived and entered upon Aḥmad, but he did not mention anything of that to him. In another narration: he brought those questions to Baghdad and presented them to Aḥmad, who confirmed them for him and was amazed at that. Al-Kawsaj settled in Naysābūr and died there in Jumādā al-Ūlā of this year. Ḥumayd b. Zanjawayh, Abū Aḥmad al-Azdī. Ḥumayd b. Zanjawayh, Abū Aḥmad al-Azdī. It is related from Abū Bakr al-Ḥasan b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Warrāq: he said: "I never saw my father laugh except a smile, and I never saw him jest. He once saw me laughing with my mother and began saying to me: 'A companion of the Qurʾān laughs such a laugh?' — and I was only with my mother." ʿAbd al-Wahhāb died in Dhū al-Qaʿdah of this year, said al-Baghawī, and another said: he died in the year two hundred fifty. ʿAlī b. al-Ḥasan b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b.
