وَفِيهَا وَلَّى الْمَأْمُونُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيَّ الْقَضَاءَ بِعَسْكَرِ الْمَهْدِيِّ فِي شَهْرِ الْمُحَرَّمِ، ثُمَّ عَزَلَهُ عَنْ قَرِيبٍ وَوَلَّى مَكَانَهُ بِشْرَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ الْكِنْدِيَّ فِي شَهْرِ رَبِيعٍ الْأَوَّلِ مِنْهَا. فَقَالَ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ فِي ذَلِكَ: يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلِكُ الْمُوَحِّدُ رَبَّهُ قَاضِيكَ بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حِمَارُ يَنْفِي شَهَادَةَ مَنْ يَدِينُ بِمَا بِهِ نَطَقَ الْكِتَابُ وَجَاءَتِ الْأَخْبَارُ وَيَعُدُّ عَدْلًا مَنْ يَقُولُ بِأَنَّهُ شَيْخٌ يُحِيطُ بِجِسْمِهِ الْأَقْطَارُ
Translation
✧ In this year, al-Maʾmūn appointed Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Makhzūmī to the judiciary of ʿAskar al-Mahdī in the month of al-Muḥarram, then dismissed him shortly thereafter and appointed in his place Bishr b. al-Walīd al-Kindī in the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal of the same year. Al-Makhzūmī said about that: O you king who affirms the oneness of his Lord, your judge Bishr b. al-Walīd is an ass; he rejects the testimony of one who adheres to what the Book has declared and the reports have brought, and he counts as upright one who says that he is an old man whose body is encompassed by the regions.
