ذِكْرُ مَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ مِنَ الْأَكَابِرِ . 1101 - الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ جُنَادَةَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْعَوْفِيُّ. مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ، وَلِيَ بِبَغْدَادَ قَضَاءَ الشَّرْقِيَّةِ بَعْدَ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ، ثُمَّ نَقَلَ إِلَى قَضَاءِ عَسْكَرِ الْمَهْدِيِّ فِي خِلَافَةِ الرَّشِيدِ أَيَّامًا، ثُمَّ عَزَلَهُ. وَحَدَّثَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَعَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، وَمِسْعَرٍ. رَوَى عَنْهُ: عُمَرُ بْنُ شَبَّةَ وَغَيْرُهُ، وَكَانَ ضَعِيفًا فِي الْحَدِيثِ، وَيُصَحِّفُ إِذَا رَوَى، وَكَانَتْ لِحْيَتُهُ تَبْلُغُ إِلَى رُكْبَتِهِ. عَنْ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِنَا قَالَ: جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى الْعَوْفِيِّ قَاضِي هَارُونَ، وَمَعَهَا صَبِيٌّ وَرَجُلٌ فَقَالَتْ: هَذَا زَوْجِي، وَهَذَا ابْنِي مِنْهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: هَذِهِ امْرَأَتُكَ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: وَهَذَا الْوَلَدُ مِنْكَ ؟ قَالَ: أَصْلَحَ اللَّهُ الْقَاضِي، أَنَا خَصِيٌّ، قَالَ: فَأَلْزَمَهُ الْوَلَدُ فَأَخَذَ الصَّبِيَّ فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ وَانْصَرَفَ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُ صَدِيقٌ لَهُ خَصِيٌّ وَالصَّبِيُّ عَلَى عُنُقِهِ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ هَذَا الصَّبِيُّ ؟ فَقَالَ: الْقَاضِي، يُفَرِّقُ أَوْلَادَ الزِّنَا عَلَى النَّاسِ. تُوُفِّيَ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 1102 - سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الزُّهْرِيُّ . سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ وَغَيْرَهُ، رَوَى عَنْهُ: أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، وَخَلَفُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، وَكَانَ صَدُوقًا ثِقَةً، وَلِيَ الْقَضَاءَ بِوَاسِطَ فِي خِلَافَةِ هَارُونَ، ثُمَّ وَلِيَ قَضَاءَ الْعَسْكَرِ لِلْمَهْدِيِّ بِبَغْدَادَ، ثُمَّ عَزَلَ فَلَحِقَ بِالْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ، وَهُوَ بِفَمِ الصُّلْحِ فَوَلَّاهُ قَضَاءَ عَسْكَرِهِ. وَتُوُفِّيَ بِالْمُبَارَكِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً. 1103 - عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَنْطَرِيُّ . كَانَ أَحَدَ الْعُبَّادِ، وَكَانَ بِشْرٌ الْحَافِي يَوَدُّهُ وَيَزُورُهُ. رَوَى عَنْهُ: الْبَرْجَلَانِيُّ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُوَفَّقِ. عَنْ صَاعِدٍ قَالَ: لَمَّا مَاتَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ حَضَرْتُ جِنَازَتَهُ، فَلَمَّا وَارَيْتُهُ رَأَيْتُهُ فِي اللَّيْلِ فِي النَّوْمِ جَالِسًا عَلَى شَفِيرِ قَبْرِهِ، وَمَعَهُ صَحِيفَةٌ يَنْظُرُ فِيهَا فَقُلْتُ [لَهُ ]: مَا فَعَلَ اللَّهُ بِكَ قَالَ: غَفَرَ لِي وَلِكُلِّ مَنْ شَيَّعَ جِنَازَتِي [قَالَ ]: قُلْتُ لَهُ: أَنَا كُنْتُ مَعَهُمْ قَالَ: هُوَ ذَا اسْمُكَ فِي الصَّحِيفَةِ. 1104 - عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، أَبُو الْحَسَنِ، مَوْلَى قَرِيبَةَ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ . مِنْ أَهْلِ وَاسِطَ، وُلِدَ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَمِائَةٍ، وَقِيلَ: سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَمِائَةٍ، وَسَكَنَ بَغْدَادَ وَحَدَّثَ بِهَا عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُوقَةَ، وَدَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ وَابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ وَحُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ، رَوَى عَنْهُ: أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، وَغَيْرُهُ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا: كَانَ يُخْطِئُ فَضَعَّفُوهُ بِذَلِكَ. عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ الْبَكْرِيِّ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ أَعْيَنَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ عَاصِمٍ يَقُولُ: دَفَعَ إِلَيَّ أَبِي مِائَةَ أَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ وَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ فَلَا أَرَى وَجْهَكَ إِلَّا بِمِائَةِ أَلْفِ حَدِيثٍ. عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حَمْدَوَيْهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا نَصْرِ بْنَ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ حَبْرَوَيْهِ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ يَقُولُ: كَانَ يَجْتَمِعُ عِنْدَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ثَلَاثِينَ أَلْفًا، وَكَانَ يَجْلِسُ عَلَى سَطْحٍ، وَكَانَ لَهُ ثَلَاثَةُ مُسْتَمْلِينَ. عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ ] الصَّفَّارِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَاصِمَ بْنَ عَلِيِّ [بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ] يَقُولُ: قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبِي أَنَّهُ صَامَ ثَمَانِينَ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ وَمَاتَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَرْبَعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ سَنَةً. وَفِيهَا تُوُفِّيَ مِنَ الْأَعْيَانِ أيضا: أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ ، وَحَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ، وَحَرَمِيُّ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ،
Translation
✧ Mention of the notables who died in this year. 1101 - Al-Ḥusayn b. al-Ḥasan b. ʿAṭiyyah b. Saʿd b. Junādah, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-ʿAwfī. From the people of Kufa. He held the judiciary of the eastern side in Baghdad after Ḥafṣ b. Ghiyāth, then he was transferred to the judiciary of the camp of al-Mahdī during the caliphate of al-Rashīd for some days, then he dismissed him. He narrated from his father, and from al-Aʿmash and Misʿar. Narrated from him: ʿUmar b. Shabbah and others. He was weak in ḥadīth, and he made textual corruptions when he narrated, and his beard reached his knee. From al-Ḥārith b. Abī Usāmah who said: One of our companions narrated to me, saying: A woman came to al-ʿAwfī, the judge of Hārūn, with her was a boy and a man. She said: This is my husband, and this is my son from him. He said to him: Is this your wife? He said: Yes. He said: And this child is from you? He said: May God set the judge right, I am a eunuch. He said: So he bound the child to him, and he took the boy and placed him on his neck and departed. A friend of his, a eunuch, met him while the boy was on his neck, and said: Who is this boy? He said: The judge, distributing children of adultery among the people. Al-ʿAwfī died in this year. 1102 - Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf, Abū Isḥāq al-Zuhrī. He heard from his father and others. Narrated from him: Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal and Khalaf b. Sālim. He was truthful and reliable. He held the judiciary in Wāsiṭ during the caliphate of Hārūn, then he held the judiciary of the camp of al-Mahdī in Baghdad, then he was dismissed and joined al-Ḥasan b. Sahl while he was at Fam al-Ṣulḥ, so he appointed him as judge of his camp. He died at al-Mubārak in this year, and he was sixty-three years old. 1103 - ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Faraj, Abū Muḥammad al-Qanṭarī. He was one of the worshipers, and Bishr al-Ḥāfī loved him and visited him. Narrated from him: al-Barjalānī and ʿAlī b. al-Muwaffaq. From Ṣāʿid who said: When ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Faraj died, I attended his funeral. When I had buried him, I saw him at night in a dream sitting on the edge of his grave, with him a page which he was looking at. I said to him: What did God do with you? He said: He forgave me and every one who escorted my funeral. He said: I said to him: I was among them. He said: There is your name in the page. 1104 - ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim b. Ṣuhayb, Abū al-Ḥasan, client of Qarībah bt. Muḥammad b. Abī Bakr al-Ṣiddīq. From the people of Wāsiṭ. He was born in the year 108, and it is said: in the year 105. He resided in Baghdad and narrated there from Ḥuṣayn b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, Muḥammad b. Sūqah, Dāwūd b. Abī Hind, Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, Ibn Jurayj and Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl. Narrated from him: Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal and others, except that they said: He used to err, so they deemed him weak because of that. From ʿAbd Allāh b. Kathīr al-Bakrī who said: I heard Aḥmad b. Aʿyan say: I heard ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim say: My father handed me one hundred thousand dirhams and said: Go, and I do not wish to see your face except with one hundred thousand ḥadīths. From Aḥmad b. Sahl b. Ḥamdawayh who said: I heard Abū Naṣr b. al-Layth b. Ḥabrawahy say: I heard Yaḥyā b. Jaʿfar say: More than thirty thousand used to gather at ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim, and he used to sit on a roof, and he had three mustamlīs (repeaters). From Yūsuf b. Yaʿqūb al-Ṣaffār who said: I heard ʿĀṣim b. ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim say: He said: My father informed me that he fasted eighty months of Ramadan and died when he was ninety-four years old. And in it died among the notables also: Abū Usāmah Ḥammād b. Usāmah, Ḥammād b. Masʿadah, Ḥaramī b. ʿUmārah, and ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim.
