Translation

✧ Mention of what Ibrahim b. Musa did In this year, Ibrahim b. Musa b. Ja'far sent from Yemen a man from the descendants of 'Aqil b. Abi Talib, with an army, to lead the people in the pilgrimage. The 'Aqili set out until he reached Bustan Ibn 'Amir. There he learned that Abu Ishaq al-Mu'tasim had performed the pilgrimage in a group of commanders, among them Hamdawayh b. 'Ali b. 'Isa b. Mahan, whom al-Hasan b. Sahl had appointed over Yemen. The 'Aqili realized that he could not prevail against them, so he encamped at Bustan Ibn 'Amir. A caravan of pilgrims passed by, carrying the covering of the Ka'bah and its perfume. He seized the merchants' goods and the covering of the Ka'bah and its perfume. The pilgrims arrived in Makkah stripped bare and plundered. Al-Mu'tasim consulted his companions. Al-Jalludi said: "I will suffice you against that." He selected one hundred men and set out with them against the 'Aqili. He engaged them in battle, and they were defeated, and most of them were taken prisoner. He recovered the covering of the Ka'bah and the merchants' goods, except what was with those who had fled before that. He returned it and took the prisoners, and he gave each of them ten lashes and released them. They returned to Yemen begging from people, and most of them perished on the way.
