The year 198 AH
وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ: وَرَدَ كِتَابُ الْمَأْمُونِ بَعْدَ قَتْلِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَى طَاهِرٍ وَهَرْثَمَةَ بِخَلْعِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ هَارُونَ، فَأَظْهَرَا ذَلِكَ، وَوَجَّهَا كُتُبَهُمَا بِهِ، وَقُرِئَ الْكِتَابُ بِخَلْعِهِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ لِلَيْلَتَيْنِ بَقِيَتَا مِنْ شَهْرِ رَبِيعٍ الْأَوَّلِ.
Translation
✧ In this year: A letter from al-Maʾmūn arrived after the killing of Muḥammad, addressed to Ṭāhir and Harthamah, ordering the deposition of al-Qāsim b. Hārūn. They made this public and dispatched their letters about it, and the letter deposing him was read on Friday, when two nights remained of the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal.
