The story of ʿĪsā b. Maryam (peace be upon him)

Translation

✧ Allah, may He be exalted, said: The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was a supporter of truth. It was said: He was called the Messiah (al-Masīḥ) because of his anointing (masḥ) of the earth, that is, his journeying through it and his fleeing with his religion from the trials of that time, due to the severity of the Jews' denial of him and their slander against him and his mother, peace be upon them both. It was also said: Because he had anointed feet.
