The year 194 AH
ثُمَّ دَخَلَتْ سَنَةُ أَرْبَعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ ذِكْرُ خِلَافِ أَهْلِ حِمْصٍ عَلَى الْأَمِينِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ خَالَفَ أَهْلُ حِمْصٍ عَلَى الْأَمِينِ، وَعَلَى عَامِلِهِمْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، فَانْتَقَلَ عَنْهُمْ إِلَى سَلَمْيَةَ، فَعَزَلَهُ الْأَمِينُ وَاسْتَعْمَلَ مَكَانَهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الْحَرَشِيَّ، فَقَتَلَ عِدَّةً مِنْ وُجُوهِهِمْ، وَحَبَسَ عِدَّةً، وَأَلْقَى النَّارَ فِي نَوَاحِيهَا، فَسَأَلُوا الْأَمَانَ فَأَجَابَهُمْ، ثُمَّ هَاجُوا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَتَلَ عِدَّةً مِنْهُمْ.
Translation
✧ Then the year 194 AH began. Mention of the opposition of the people of Hims against al-Amīn. In this year, the people of Hims opposed al-Amīn and their governor, Isḥāq b. Sulaymān. He moved away from them to Salamyah, so al-Amīn dismissed him and appointed in his place ʿAbd Allāh b. Saʿīd al-Ḥarashī. He killed a number of their notables, imprisoned a number, and cast fire into its districts. They asked for safe-conduct and he granted it, then they rose up after that and he killed a number of them.
