The story of Zakariyyā and Yaḥyā (peace be upon them both)
بَابُ ذِكْرِ يَحْيَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وُلِدَ يَحْيَى قَبْلَ عِيسَى بِسِتَّةِ [ أَشْهُرٍ ]. وَقِيلَ: قَبْلَ أَنْ يُرْفَعَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ. وَسَمَّاهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى [ يَحْيَى ] وَلَمْ يَكُنْ قَبْلَهُ مَنْ تَسَمَّى هَذَا الِاسْمَ، قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا.
Translation
✧ Bāb dhikr Yaḥyā ﷺ Yaḥyā was born six months before ʿĪsā. It was said: before ʿĪsā ﷺ was raised up. Allah, exalted is He, named him Yaḥyā, and there had been no one before him who bore this name. Allah, exalted is He, said: “We have not assigned to any before [him] the name.”
